About Jen

Before becoming a freelance writer Jen completed her doctorate at Sussex University while teaching and examining undergraduate courses in English literature. She also worked for many years in publishing.

As an RLF Writing Fellow at Sussex University from 2012-14, Jen helped hundreds of undergraduates across all disciplines to fulfil their writing potential. She worked intensively with postgraduates and staff on dissertations, theses, books and articles.

Since 2012 Jen has regularly delivered writing skills workshops for students at the Universities of Sussex and Brighton, specialising in improving academic style and writing dissertations.

Workshops are fully interactive, involving reflective writing, group and pair work, games and lively discussions. There are opportunities for individual feedback and to trouble-shoot writing problems.

A highly experienced writer, Jen has over 300 titles in print. She writes non-fiction, mainly for children but also adults, specializing in history, geography, science, nature and environment. She also works as a website consultant and has devised websites for a range of clients, from international corporate businesses to A-level students.
