About Duncan

Duncan Forbes has a wealth of experience in teaching, advising and mentoring students at all levels. After a career working as a Head of English in secondary schools, he was appointed an RLF Fellow at the University of Worcester (2012-16) and has tutored over 500 students as well as conducting numerous workshops and presentations.

An award-winning poet and translator, Duncan focuses particularly on liveliness and precision in writing of all kinds. His work has been widely published by Faber, Secker, Bodley Head and Enitharmon and his poems have been broadcast on radio in Britain and the USA.

Although his own academic background and training lies in the Classics and English Literature, he is also a painter deeply interested the history of art and of ideas. His family background is medical and he has helped numerous students both in the arts and the sciences to write with greater awareness of accuracy, style and expression. He enjoys working with students in small groups and advising individuals on their work in progress, from undergraduates through to postgraduates and staff.
