About Amanda

Amanda has extensive experience of writing and co-writing books, TV and radio for children. Most recently, she has co-written two series of comic adventure books for 5 – 8 year olds and so has up-to-the-minute knowledge of the children’s book market and contemporary tastes in children’s fiction.

She also has considerable teaching experience, which includes leading writing workshops for primary school children, teaching literacy in Further Education and working for four years as an RLF Literary Fellow at the University of East London, where she worked one-to-one with, among others, creative writing students. She combines her writing and teaching skills to offer a one day workshop in writing stories for children, which can also be adapted to suit clients’ needs. The workshop focuses on creating strong ideas, building character, story structure and the ways in which the worlds of books and teaching can constructively interact. She can also offer insight on editing, mentoring and nurturing creativity in education.
